Easy Fluffy Basmati Rice

- 2 tablespoon butter, ghee, or vegetable oil
- 1 cup long-grain basmati rice rinsed
- 1½ cups water
- ½ teaspoon salt use more or less, to taste
- 3-4 bay leaves
Heat the butter or oil in a medium pot or saucepan over medium heat.
Add the rinsed rice and stir to coat the grains evenly.
Pour in the water and add the salt and bay leaves. Increase the heat to a high and bring to a boil.
Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed.
Turn off the heat and let the rice rest, covered, for 5 minutes.
Fluff with a fork and remove the bay leaves before serving.
