Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the ground meat to the pan, and stir to combine. Allow the meat to brown, about 5 minutes.

Season with salt, pepper, cumin; and ground paprika. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Pour in the canned tomatoes and beef stock (or water). Stir well, bring to a simmer, and let cook for 15-20 minutes stirring from time to time, until the sauce thickens.

Add the kidney beans, stir and cook covered for a further 5 minutes.
